Jim Thompson, (James Harrison Wilson Thompson; born March 21, 1906) was an American businessman who helped revitalize the Thai silk industry in the 1950s and 1960s. At the time of his disappearance in 1967 he was the most famous American living in Asia. Time magazine claimed that he "almost singlehanded saved Thailand’s vital silk industry from extinction”.
Since 1976, the company is a foundation, By virtue of the dictates of its charter and the abiding interests of Jim Thompson, the Foundation dedicates and commits itself to the preservation and conservation of Thailand's rich cultural heritage.
His house and art collection, entrusted to the foundation and are recorded this same year as a National Museum and are visited by thousands of people every year.
